One of the Midwest’s most popular and highly regarded outdoor celebrations of the arts is returning to downtown Rockford! Beattie Is… Back is a free, family friendly festival that will feature a high-quality artist market, art demonstrations, live music and entertainment, specialty food vendors and exciting “hands-on” experiential art activities. In the “Make-and-Take” creative zone patrons will have a unique opportunity to experience being real artists and create something to take home. Guests of all ages and interests will find something to enjoy at Beattie Is!
The Rockford Area Arts Council is looking for ALL artists (visual, musicians, poets, performers, etc) to participate in the 15th Annual Beattie Is…Back Arts Festival!

Scheduled at the end of summer, when upwards of 5,000 visitors are drawn weekly to downtown Rockford for City Market, the Arts Council will be well poised with a captive audience to market the event throughout the entire summer. Based on growing popularity of City Market and situating Beattie Is… Back at City Market Pavilion, we expect 3,000 plus patrons to attend the festival. Our committee, and all the people working behind the scenes are confident Beattie Is… will expand year after year, and once again become the beloved family-friendly arts festival that so potently captured the hearts, the minds, and the imaginations of so many people throughout the years.

NOW CELEBRATING OUR 70TH YEAR! Held rain or shine on the second weekend after Labor Day every year, the annual two-day outdoor event features up to 150 artists from around the region and across the nation, live music at the Greenwich Main Stage, local and regional vendors at the Greenwich Artistan Marketplace, children’s art activities at the Creations by Kids tent – plus food, drink and more the Village Pub, Kortman Gallery’s Point Bar, and throughout the fair. Established in 1948, Greenwich is the longest-running art fair of its kind in the Midwest. Ticket proceeds support Rockford Art Museum throughout the year.

Celebrating its 70th year, one of Illinois’ oldest art festivals held annually the first Sunday following Labor Day on the grounds of the beautiful John Deere Historic Site. Around 1900 the natural allure beckoned students from the Art Institute of Chicago to Grand Detour. Dixon native Charles Kested started what would become the Grand Detour Arts Festival. Stroll the grounds enjoying many artists, student art show, blacksmith demonstrations, John Deere’s restored home, food, and music. 9-4 rain or shine. This is a juried show with cash prizes. Free admission.
The Next Picture Show is pleased to present the 37th ART IN THE PARK – “NUTS ABOUT ART” outdoor fair on July 7, from 9:00am – 4:00pm at the John Dixon Park, 515 N Galena Ave, Dixon, IL 61021.
More than 50 artists from Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin will be on hand presenting their original handcrafted works of art including paintings, metal sculpture, pottery, clay, gourd art, stained glass, photography, carved wood, jewelry, baskets, yard art and more.
The event will also feature art demos by some of the artists, music by local musician Matt Kinnaman and a number of food vendors including Hey Bros. Ice Cream.
The Next Picture Show is a non-profit art center serving the Sauk Valley and beyond.
Join us for the ultimate holiday handmade shopping event. Free to attend, featuring more than 40 vendors selling locally crafted and handmade goods. Food and drink from great local vendors & two food courts will be available.
